Ingredients
3 tablespoons butter, very soft or partially melted
3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg yolk
1/3 cup + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (~60 grams, see note 1)
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 cup chocolate chips
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Blend the Wet Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the butter, sugars, egg yolk, and vanilla until well combined.
- Add the Dry Ingredients: Mix in the salt, baking soda, flour, and cornstarch. After the dough gets soft, stir in the chocolate chips.
- Form the Cookies: Using two large balls of dough, shape them and put them on a baking pan. Perhaps you have some leftover dough left over for a quick snack. You are welcome to add more chocolate chips on top!
- Bake: Depending on how gooey you like the
center, bake the cookies for 10 to 12 minutes. - Cool: To firm up, let the cookies sit on the baking pan for ten to fifteen minutes. After that, either place them on a dish or eat them right out of your hand. Ideal for cosy nibbling on the couch!
Notes
- · Flour: I use a knife to level the flour after scooping it straight into the measuring cup. Use 50–60 grams when using a scale. Use 50 grams for a chewier cookie and 60 grams for a thicker cookie. Both are quite effective!
· Puffiness: To help your cookies settle if they turn out overly puffed, lightly tap the baking sheet on the counter.
· Bake Time: Bake for 10 minutes for a softer, gooey center. Bake for 12 minutes for a little firmer, more golden cookie.
· Butter: Take caution while measuring butter, as the label may contain inaccurate measurements. Cut the stick in half, then slice off one tablespoon, making sure you have precisely three tablespoons.
